History of Hillside Baptist Church

Hillside Baptist Church was started as a Mission of the Bethel Baptist Church, Paris, Arkansas, January 1980. First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church was organized into a Church on August 20, 1989, and the name was changed to Hillside Baptist Church on April 21, 1996, for simplicity and to eliminate any confusion with another church. Hillside Baptist remains a totally independent, mission oriented, church which allows an association relation with other American Baptist Churches. Hillside Baptist Church invites you to join us as we study, pray, and grow, striving to meet the spiritual needs of this community.

Pastor Richard and his family are natives of Biloxi, Mississippi. They began their ministry to the Lord in 1984. After Brother Richard announced his calling to preach, he was then licensed by the Central Baptist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi. He attended Florida Baptist Seminary, in Lakeland, where he received his Associates, Graduates, and Bachelor Degrees. While in Florida, he served in the position of an associate pastor for the Lone Oak Baptist Church. Before coming to Knoxville, he and his family ministered for five years on the mission field in Sarande, Albania. The Richard family looks forward to serving the people in the Knoxville area.
